SUM is an important function displayed in the Pivot Table<\/a>. Let’s see how we can change COUNT to SUM in Pivot Table.<\/strong><\/p>\n

By default, when you put any field into the VALUES area of the pivot table it counts and displays the sum of the values. However, a much more common and needed function is the sum of the values of the field.<\/p>\n

So let us see how we can change the COUNT to SUM in a Pivot Table.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is our Pivot Table, it’s currently set up to get the counts. But we want the sum of sales<\/strong> instead, so let us fix that pronto!<\/p>\n

Method 1:\u00a0<\/strong>Using the Pivot Table Fields tab.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span> Click on the arrow beside\u00a0Count of SALES\u00a0<\/strong>and select\u00a0Value Field Settings<\/strong><\/p>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span> Select\u00a0Sum<\/strong> and click\u00a0OK<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Change<\/p>\n

Now your Sales values are now being calculated as Sum<\/strong> instead of Count<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Method 2:\u00a0<\/strong>D<\/span>irectly through the Pivot Table cells.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, you can also try this approach:<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong><\/span> Select any cell<\/strong> within the column.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/span> Right-click the cell and select\u00a0Summarize Values By\u00a0<\/strong>>\u00a0Sum\u00a0<\/strong>from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n

As you can see, the field value has now been updated to SUM instead of COUNT.<\/p>\n
