When you duplicate a pivot table<\/a>, there is one quirk if you need to set up the grouping. The same grouping will somehow apply to both pivot tables.<\/p>\n

Let me demonstrate how you can group two pivot tables independently.<\/p>\n

Here is our Pivot Table setup:<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span> Let us duplicate this, select the entire Pivot Table by pressing\u00a0CTRL + A,\u00a0<\/strong>right-click and select Copy<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

Pick any cell right next to it and select\u00a0Paste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span> Right-click on the new Pivot Table and select Group<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

Make any grouping selection that you prefer and click\u00a0OK<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 3:<\/strong><\/span> Notice that the grouping is applied to both Pivot Tables! But we do not want that to happen.<\/p>\n

Click the\u00a0Undo button<\/strong> and let us work on the workaround for this.<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 4:<\/strong><\/span> Select the new Pivot Table and click the\u00a0Cut<\/strong> icon<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 5:<\/strong><\/span> Open a new Excel workbook by pressing\u00a0CTRL + N<\/strong> and select\u00a0Paste<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 6:<\/strong><\/span> Now right-click on this Pivot Table in the new Excel workbook, select Group<\/strong> and pick the groupings that you prefer. Click\u00a0OK<\/strong><\/p>\n

STEP 7:<\/strong><\/span> Looking good! Select this Pivot Table and click the Cut<\/strong> icon again<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

STEP 8:<\/strong><\/span> Paste this back on the original workbook<\/p>\n

\"Group<\/p>\n

You will notice that the grouping is now applied only to this Pivot Table!<\/p>\n

This is how you can easily group two Pivot Tables independently!<\/p>\n
