Table that was created in the previous step and go to <strong>Power Pivot &gt; New Measure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a Name,\u00a0<\/strong>type in any name that you like e.g.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><em>Total Sales<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the\u00a0<strong><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.myexcelonline.com\/meo-staging\/blog\/top-excel-formulas-function-examples-to-get-better-at-microsoft-excel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Formula\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Formula<\/a><\/strong>, after the <strong>=<\/strong> sign start typing the word <em><strong>SUM<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Just like in native Excel, this will bring up the Formula helper and choose the <em>SUM <\/em>function by either <strong>double clicking<\/strong> on the blue highlighted <em>SUM<\/em> option or by pressing the <strong>Tab<\/strong> keyboard to confirm this suggestion:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myexcelonline.com\/meo-staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/sum.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" in Power Pivot\" width=\"290\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After the <em>SUM<\/em> formula is selected, <strong>type in the Table name<\/strong> that we created in <strong>Step 2<\/strong>, which we called <em><strong>Sales<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This will bring up the Formula helper and within here you need to select the <em><strong>Sales [Sales Amount]<\/strong><\/em> option and\u00a0close the parenthesis:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myexcelonline.com\/meo-staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/sales-amount.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Set the\u00a0<strong>Category\u00a0<\/strong>as\u00a0<strong>Currency<\/strong>, and this will automatically handle the formatting for you. \u00a0Press <strong>OK<\/strong> to confirm this.<\/p>\n<p>This Measure will now return\u00a0the Sum Total of the <em>Sales Amount<\/em> column within the <strong><em>Sales<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Table.<\/p>\n<p><a
