Excel Repeat Last Action<\/h3>\n

Many times, you might have faced a situation where need to do a bunch of tasks repeatedly<\/strong> while working on an Excel worksheet.<\/p>\n

You may need to insert a blank row or column, add a black border, red fill to a cell, etc. to multiple cells<\/strong>, and repeating the same task again and again can be quite time-consuming.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Using Keyboard Shortcuts (F4)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you want to repeat action in Excel, like inserting a column\/row, formatting cells, copy & pasting, etc<\/em>, then you can use the keyboard shortcut F4<\/strong> which will repeat your last action (in most cases).<\/p>\n

If you want to insert blank rows<\/a> multiple times using f4 keyboard shortcut, follow the steps below:<\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span> Select<\/strong> the row above which you want to insert a blank row.<\/p>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span> Right-Click and select Insert<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A new row is added!<\/em><\/p>\n

STEP 3:<\/strong><\/span> To repeat this action, simply press F4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Previously, you have used the shortcut F4 to redo a task in Excel. In the same manner, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Y<\/strong> to get the task to repeat again!<\/span>!<\/p>\n

Instead of using a keyboard shortcut<\/a>, you can even add the Repeat Command in your QAT!<\/p>\n

Let’s try the repeat command to redo the last action<\/a> in Excel!<\/p>\n

<\/a>Using Repeat Command<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another easy way is to add the Repeat command on the Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong> and simply click on it to repeat the last action multiple times.<\/p>\n

To add Repeat Command in QAT, do as follows:<\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span> Select the small arrow<\/strong> on the top of the ribbon to access the Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span> Select More Commands<\/strong> from the list.<\/p>\n

STEP 3:<\/strong><\/span> In the Excel Options dialog box, from the list of commands under Popular Commands<\/strong> select Repeat<\/strong>.\"F4:<\/a><\/p>\n

STEP 4:<\/strong><\/span> Click on Add<\/strong> and then you will see Repeat added to the right. \"F4:<\/a><\/p>\n

STEP 5:<\/strong><\/span> Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Repeat Command is now added to your QAT. You can now easily Redo<\/b>\u00a0the last action by simply clicking on it.<\/p>\n

You can remove this command from the QAT. To do that:<\/p>\n

STEP 1:<\/strong><\/span> Select the small arrow<\/strong> on the top of the ribbon to access the Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

STEP 2:<\/strong><\/span> Select More Commands<\/strong> from the list.<\/p>\n

STEP 3:<\/strong><\/span> Under Customize Quick Access Toolbar, select Repeat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

STEP 4:<\/strong><\/span> Click Remove<\/strong> and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Repeat Command is now no longer part of the Quick Analysis<\/a> Toolbar!<\/p>\n

So, you can avoid typing the same text, formula, or formatting on each and every cell<\/a> of the sheet. You can repeat your last action by either using the shortcuts – F4 or Ctrl + Y<\/strong> or by adding the Repeat Command on your Quick Access Toolbar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
